Sure, it's a chain, and there's a certain kitschy element to the rustic-style décor at these spacious restaurants, but the food is surprisingly good, with the best catch being anything fried. We especially like the crisp, greaseless fried chicken tenderloins and fried good-sized shrimp that come perched atop a mountain of perfectly cooked fries. New Orleans specialties abound on the menu, like fried frog legs and alligator, red beans and rice with andouille (sausage) and crawfish étouffée. We like to reel-in a bowl of seafood gumbo to start, and can never resist ordering the bread pudding with bourbon sauce for dessert. Note: Pappadeaux is one fun place to hold a party, and they do an especially good job at "to geaux" orders.
